October 2026 – RME’s ADI-2/4 PRO EX brings together high-resolution AD/DA conversion, two headphone amplifiers and extensive onboard processing in a compact design. Engineered for demanding professional audio applications, the flagship converter combines redesigned conversion circuitry with RME’s True Balanced Mode and precision clocking technology.
Supporting sample rates up to 768 kHz, the ADI-2/4 PRO EX features new converters with a specified 127 dBA performance figure and RME’s ELAR—Extended Linear Analog Range—technology. These advances support precise conversion across recording, playback and monitoring applications.
The unit’s two headphone amplifiers combine low noise with substantial output power. RME’s True Balanced Mode, including Pentaconn support, provides balanced headphone operation, while channel-independent DC protection and active fuse-less protection help safeguard connected headphones.
At the heart of the ADI-2/4 PRO EX is SteadyClock EX. Its factory-calibrated, hand-selected quartz crystal oscillator delivers an accuracy of ±1 ppm. A clock trim function allows users to fine-tune the master clock in increments of 0.1 ppm, providing additional flexibility for precision synchronization. High-end sample rate conversion is also included.
Built-in DSP expands the unit’s capabilities with tools for tailoring playback and monitoring without an additional AD/DA conversion stage. Features include:
- Dual five-band EQ for independent left and right correction.
- RIAA equalization available in Line mode.
- Crossfeed speaker simulation for headphone listening.
- Mid/side processing.
- Selectable DA filters.
- Loudness and stereo width adjustment.
