A fine British Invasion-style submission from this creative duo. George tells us that the song "began as just a chorus and morphed into verse, bridge, and breakdown." Armed with an arrangement, George began working on his drum programming, "essentially thinking of Ringo and some of the great parts he did with the Beatles." Fair enough. So... how were the end results? Well, pretty darn good, in our opinion. George has fashioned a realistic drum performance via his Toontrack and Slate software. We love the big open kick drum sound, the snare has ample snap, and the floor tom captures the "tea towel" Abbey Road treatment quite nicely.

The bass guitar has a rather furry sound through our monitors, perhaps a bit of valve distortion from the TL Audio preamp? Moving on to the guitars, the VOX AC30 amp certainly delivers the goods here. They don't call it "top boost" for nothing, folks -- Tom's slashing rhythm and biting slightly psychedelic lead work use the amp's characteristic sound to full advantage. Moving on to the vocals, George has done a fine job layering his harmonies in and around the present lead vocal. We hear some subtle compression on the vocals, but in a controlled fashion. Nice!

Suggestions: We were plenty impressed with George and Tom's work, as you have probably guessed. The guys had a vision in mind for their track, and they had just the right combination of chops, programming skill, and appropriate gear to fulfill their mission. How all this will translate in a song less genre-specific is anyone's guess, but for now we'd say that they are on the right track!

Summary: Impressive!
