October 2011 begins RECORDING's 25th year in print, and we're starting off our silver celebration with a special issue we're calling "Recording Done Right". In the world of audio production and engineering, most folks start out with modest goals and a tight budget, but as they gain experience they seek out better gear and better techniques to bring their recordings to the next level. In this issue, we honor some of the world's best audio gear and some cool success stories from the worldwide community of audio professionals.

Lorenz Rychner presents a marvelous centerpiece for this special issue -- an interview with some producers and engineers whose hands have been on award-winning, million-selling records. You'll learn tips and tricks you can use, and listen to ideas and philosophies for better audio recordings, from do-it-all label owner and engineer Jeremy Cohen, world-famous engineer Michael C. Ross, the brothers Bouchard on their newest Blue Coupe recording session, and multi-platinum producer/songwriter Toby Gad (Fergie, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Colbie Caillat, Demi Lovato, and about a gazillion others) on what it takes to write effective songs!

This issue also celebrates world-class gear! We bring you hands-on test results of the hotly anticipated new Workhorse enclosure/mixer for 500 Series modules from Radial Engineering, as well as reviews of gear vintage and modern, old and new-again: the A Designs Nail, the Telefunken AK47mkII, Great River Electronics' Harrison 32EQ, Grace Designs' m103, the Millennia Media HV-35, hot new mics from Audix and Blue, an in-depth look at Adobe Audition for Mac OS X, tests of the new Alesis iO Dock for the iPad... and an exclusive hands-on test of the brand-new reissue of the fabled Pultec EQP-1A3 program equalizer from the reborn Pulse Techniques!

There's lots more to read about in the October 2011 RECORDING. Pick it up and take a trip with us, around the world of fantastic audio recordings!
