Quote of the Day

“If I was a technician working for a major company, I’d be frightened because I’d know that what I was working on this year was going to the junk yard. The next step is already here—the equipment even has punch-out holes. What are those things for? They’re for next year’s model.”- Les Paul

'Tis the Season

December 24, 2008

A dear friend gave me a book for Christmas that will brighten many a day for a long time to come: The Quotable Musician—from Bach to Tupac. By Sheila E. Anderson. Allworth Press.

Allow me to share two gems from it:

Decca Recording Company’s explanation why they didn’t sign the Beatles: “We don’t like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out.”

Hammond organist Jack McDuff to guitarist Peter Leitch, while driving to a barbecue joint: “You don’t have to be black to play the Blues, you don’t have to be poor to play the Blues, but you have to eat pork.”

Bon appétit, and happy holidays!
