Quote of the Day

“I just make sure that the sound that is being recorded is as close to the sound I want as possible. I don’t want to rely on the engineers to monkey around with the eq afterwards—unless it’s an effect that you’re trying to get.”- Leon Redbone

OSX Lion: Welcome to the Jungle!

January 10, 2012

Hi, Folks!

Here's hoping 2012 brings you good fortune and much success!

After a much needed vacation, I retuned home and decided to upgrade the system on my MacBook Pro to OSX Lion, only to find out it is grossly incompatible with many applications I use on a daily basis, for example, everything Adobe makes.

After a panicked weekend of backups and cursing, I downgraded to Snow Leopard, averting a disaster... Lesson learned? ALWAYS make sure you read up on compatibility issues BEFORE making any sort of a system upgrade.

In sunnier news, I am looking forward to seeing many of you at another NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA, from January 19 to the 22nd. This year we have a brand new location for our booth; if you don't see us in the familiar spot don't despair. Our new home away from home can be found here:

Just go to the “Interactive Floor Plan” link and enter “Music Maker Publications.”

We'll be at Hall A, booth number 6809, right next to Phonic, Solid State Logic, and Presonus.

You'll see long lines of fans (mostly female) waiting to get copies of Recording signed by the editors and publishers... Be patient, it's worth the wait!

See you there!

All the best,

Beto
