Quote of the Day

“That first song on your demo is like a radio hit: you want to hook the listener in the first ten seconds, interest him/her more in the next ten seconds, and if you can really hold them through the first minute they might listen to your whole tape.”- John Simon

Ups and Downs in the Studio World

January 27, 2011

Heard worrisome news about Roger Nichols (of Steely Dan fame et al) - posted the item on the home page and in the NEWS section, please check it out. Fingers crossed, and best wishes!

Studio designer John Storyk - no stranger to readers of RECORDING - has done it again. He loves those challenges. Just finished a new studio, with an expanse of glass looking out over Manhattan, from the 11th floor, must have been a heck of a design job to get the acoustics right!

Check out this write-up from the New York Times:

John Storyk has a number of helpful items on his website that you might wish to peruse, by going to www.wsdg.com, then put your mouse cursor over the Technology link (the first item under Technology in the links bar).
